In a match between the Mumbai Indians New York and San Francisco Unicorns at the Major Cricket League in Dallas, MINY batter Michael Bracewell suffered an absolutely puzzling moment when he mistakenly took a DRS after getting bowled. It happened in the 17th over, when Romario Shepherd delivered a back-of-a-length ball on the off-stump, and Bracewell missed the line. The ball passed through his bat and chipped off the bails. In a very confusing manner, Bracewell took the DRS and then realized that he had been bowled out for a duck. Despite a flying start, the chase lost steam after the 10th over. Quinton de Kock scored a fluent 70 off 46 balls, while Monank Patel smashed 60 off 33. Their 119-run stand kept MI in the hunt, but once Monank fell to Plunkett, wickets tumbled. Nicholas Pooran (15) and Michael Bracewell (0) departed in quick succession to Romario Shepherd. De Kock was bowled soon after by Shepherd, triggering a collapse. Kieron Pollard’s quickfire 34* off 16 wasn’t enough, as MI ended at 199/6. Shepherd and Xavier Bartlett picked up two wickets each. Earlier, the Unicorns put on a batting exhibition, finishing at 246/4. Captain Matthew Short led from the front with 91 off 43 balls. Jake Fraser-McGurk blasted 64 off 26, and Hassan Khan’s late cameo (31* off 9) ensured a massive total. Kieron Pollard took 2/31, but the rest of the MI bowling attack struggled. The Unicorns’ power-packed performance with bat and ball sealed a convincing win.
